About the Voter Activation Network

Voter Activation Network is the leading provider of online information systems to Democrats and their allies. Founded in 2001, VAN has revolutionized the way campaigns and organizations access and manage data about voters, members, and constituents.

We believe passionately that working with data should be as simple as purchasing a book online. Managing a field campaign and communicating with activists should not require users to acquire new computer expertise. Instead, Voter Activation Network products are built to exploit the unique skills that organizers and activists already have and allow them easy access to the massive amounts of information field campaigns generate.

Additionally, we are committed to giving our clients full ownership over their data. In the old days, campaigns relied on overpriced vendors for every list they wanted, and sometimes for every name on a list. A State Senator would pay for a voter file for her district, and then the State Representative would pay the same vendor for the same names in his portion of the district. Add county and municipal officials and a variety of statewide races, and you can understand why vendors liked that system better than candidates did.

Fortunately, those days are over. When we build a VAN for a state party, the party can make it available to every Democratic candidate in the state, or any subset of Democrats they choose.
